Got a call from tac-com this morning. Their parts kit won't work with the chiappa bolt... Nor will their bolt work in the chiappa upper. *sigh

Note to self, don't take Kenny up on any trade offers including his Chiappa .22. :bolt:

no shit! I redacted my For Sale thread on that particular item. Will be messing with it and trying to figure out what the problem is.

The guy at Tac-Com was super cool and gave me some pointers on things to look at. They have a couple of the Chiappa uppers in their shop for various reasons and has had some issues with theirs that he edumacated me on, things to look for, what parts are normal to wear/break, etc. Good people there.

Rcv'd and installed my new carrier and cam pin today. Both are Nickle/boron coated and look absolutely great. These are guaranteed to allow you to shoot groups of <1/4" @ 500yds and kill(DRT)everything you shoot at.

Take a guess as to which gun it went in. --- SAWMAN

disassembled the .22lr bolt from the Chiappa upper. Turns out, the firing pin "pivot pin" as Chiappa calls it was broken in half. Glad I found this before I sold/traded it. New pin ordered. Looks like an easy fix.

If still getting light strikes after this, I'll bob the hammer to try to get some stronger strikes to the firing pin.

    Good score Khaot1c, lucky man!

Snowbird, if you bobbed the hammer and are getting light primer strikes I believe bobbing it more will increase the problem. Hammer weight, and spring tension, are both factors in the force with which the hammer strikes the firing pin, which energy is transferred to the primer. I remember reading about this issue when folks first started bobbing revolver hammers many years ago. Might want to do some searching on it or check with a gunsmith, I am just a home hacker...but I played with 1911s quite a bit for a few decades; and changing the hammer on them to a bobbed hammer often lead to light primer strikes. Best of luck with it.

Painted my fiberglass M14 stock and sent my Beretta 92A1 slide off to Josh at Allegheny Gun Works for his "G" conversion.

Yeah people playing with gunsmithing that don't have a clue or just read the internet would do better to take to a real gunsmith before they have an accident. I am the first to take my own advice, too easy to do something where someone gets hurt.
