Just getting into this round.
Looking for something like this
Complete 300 AAC BLACKOUT Upper Receiver Assembly
- 16" Barrel,
- Flash Hider
- Heat Shield with picc. rail
- Compatible with an AR lower with "Mil-Spec" push pin locations
If you want a standard handguard you're going to have to setup another gas block/front sight to hold the handguard. The gas length on the 300s tend to be(my source for barrels is) pistol length. A free float handguard is going to be an easier option. With the block, front sight/block, delta ring and hand guard, you aren't going to be saving much over just getting a free float rail.
Check slickguns.com. There are lots of places that are still offering $400 uppers. I've got aero uppers, seekins handguards, aim BCGS, BCM charging handles, ballistic advantage barrels. With those parts, you're looking at mid $400 to low $500 depending on barrel length, BCG type, handguard length.
Right now I need a couple of AR-15 sets for plain Jane starter builds. These are "it does not matter" builds for first time AR owners, I normally do not build such, however in this case it is family BS, wife-daughter type. So It has been left to me and I am going with a matched set, starter carbine, standard adjustable starter stock, black, flat top, in 5.56, the chrome molly barrels will be 1-8 twist 16s with a free float handguard (I will get the barrels and handguards) with mid length gas tubes. The 1-8 twist is my gift as the twist will handle any off the shelf ammo, neither of these folks are reloaders. I do not like making anything for folks that haven't a clue. But we do what we must, to keep peace in the family.....

MCSR v2 handguards from seekins, 12" keymod or m-lok $135. Can get others but the seekins are the cheapest "nice" handguards I can get. I can get faxon barrels. They're the only supplier I've got that come in 1/8.
I will need two matching color sets. If you have them now, I will come get them when you are open, just let me know, best time. I kind of want to do a one shot trip due to distance from Destin.
