See my response to his post. I agree with you on the obscure powder. 5744 is a very fast powder for a 223 and only used for light rounds to 55 gr. I had to do some digging as he only used Speer #14 book and didn't look at Hogdon. The 11 gr is a reduced load for under 2000 FPS. The full...

The Speer Data you are looking at is for a Reduced Load. Not sure why they are only showing the reduced load.
Depending on the bullet grain you can use up to 21.1 gr of 5744 for a 35gr bullet. The lowest load data I can find is 16.8 gr.
I ran about 500 rds of their 9mm without issue. Also about 300 rds of the 223 but not reloads. No issues with any of them except 1 223 didn't detonate on primer strike.
Is it possible the round before this one had a light charge and was in the barrel when this round went off? I'm trying to figure out what this, where the "1" is at, is on the back of the case? From the other pic it's not deformed on the inside and wonder if this is what led to the failure? You...
You get my general point with your response. Of course they had more arrows or knives on them. However, they needed to draw them from a quiver which takes time. It would be no different than a single shot and you have a holster full of ammo.
They were not all 6 rounds. Colt made 5 round...
It wasn't that they only needed 6. The revolver was limited to a certain number of rounds per cylinder. Larger calibers were only 5 not 6. Smaller could be 8 or 9. Let's go back 200 years when you only needed 1 round and a flint. Or before that when you only needed 1 spear or a rock...
Reviving this as I've bene using one at my local range due to their rules on no rifle calibers allowed. I'm amazed at how accurate it is with some AE 40 gr I've had sitting around. I tried newer CCI that was only 32 gr and it shot terribly. This is my 1st day at the range with my new build...
Well after the fact but you can get a BCM complete upper w/ free BCG for under $700 and throw a PSA, or on sale, upper for under $200 and have a solid rifle. This is with a 22 conversion at 18 yds. About 30 shots. I expected about a 4" group with the AE ammo.
