So it's that time again, the NRA has sent me the current renewal offer. It's up to $25 a year and American Rifleman hasn't been that entertaining lately. Anyone following what the NRA has been doing for it's members lately? Why would the NRA ask the final question of it's Gun Owner survey, "Will you fight for your freedom by renewing your commitment" when they already know that I'm a Combat Vet? Is this really worth $25 a year? What say Y'all.

Yep I got out when I found out how the NRA sold all of our Class3 gun rights down the river in the 1980's. (I found out about the NRA treachery by reading old back issues of Guns and Ammo, go check them out for real patriotism and gun writers). And then the NRA did it again in the states that already had open carry and Constitutional carry when they chose those states to pass most of the first concealed carry legislation, actually passing more restrictive gun laws on those free citizens in order to go to states who didn't have any form of carry and say "look what they just did! They got concealed carry passed! You should too" and now 20 and 30 years later they're finally getting around to getting their open carry and Constitutional carry back. Nevermind the hundreds of thousands of dollars Wayne gets paid every year and the once in a lifetime free vacations handed out monthly

BTW magazine renewals aren't what made the NRA their billions. It was TV, pay-for -play political endorsements and selling insurance policies to gun ranges all across the country. Nope, I'm not a member of any ranges or gun mag subscriptions either... it's all registration. I won't ever suggest anybody else be a member of any range or magazine subscription related to firearms either. Plenty of back issues floating around barber shops, FFL's and flea markets for next to free. Cost you a haircut or maybe a $1 on the table.

The NRA Certainly is not what it used to be. But it’s the big dog in the fight. I’m very disappointed with them, but I do renewal. I’d like them to be better, but at least they’re in a fight. I support other organizations also

When I opened this can of worms, I expected a lot of blow back. Yet it's beginning to look like their are a lot of other dissatisfied NRA or EXNRA members. The last time I renewed I felt exactly like Tige. Yet I've been solicited by many other Organizations that have turned out to have even less of MY interests as their primary goals. It may be time to post a link or two for research:

    https://www.firearmspolicy.org/

Are either of the above mentioned organizations going to be able to muster the Clout of the NRA?

    Yes. They already are.

Are you sure? Neither Organization has collected My funding or sent any questionnaires to Me.
Just because these other organizations aren't fear mongering on company letterhead in your mailbox as much as the NRA doesn't mean that these other organizations aren't collecting money and fighting the good fight. It means they're not out wasting their money on a whole forest worth of paper

But yet an NRA Classification card allows Me to meet the CMP Purchase Eligibility Requirements. (Even if I have all of the other boxes checked) So perhaps there may still be advantages to NRA Membership?

I have all those same boxes checked too. Years ago before Obummer I bought mail order from the CMP and I also made the pilgrimage to the CMP store in Anniston. Now I choose not to buy out of Federal government gun storage. I'll buy my crusty old green 30-06 somewhere else as long as there's a crusade on against my gun rights. The hell I'm ever going to buy ammo from the Feds ever again as long as the Feds work for the Chief Gun Grabber In Charge. It is the epitome of registration... buying ammo straight from the Feds. Never forget who you're buying from at the CMP

I don't like NRA...but being a NRA firearms instructor I have to maintain my membership. Mainly I just run the LEOSA/HR-218 courses at the FOP for the benefit of all the retired LEO's in our area. NRA is not what it was back when I joined in 1981!
