I'll be there Denny. I've planned my weekend finally. I'm going to sleep late (yes, miss Cracker Barrel for breakfast), hit the Oval Office, then home for a date with my weedeater and lawn mower.

Based on Gendoc's recommendation my wife and I stopped for dinner at the Crazy Horse Saturday evening. I had mullet - did not offer AYCE with purple hull peas and collards but there was plenty on the plate, she had catfish, slaw, collards and coconut crusted pie. Everything was great and the menu is much more extensive than seafood. Definitely a locals kind of place but big enough to take a GCGF crowd. Prices were fair - $8.99 for my mullet I think her catfish fillets were a buck more. Other than being a ride for those east of Pensacola - not a bad choice IMHO.

Back when I was living at Perdido Beach we ran a mullet net almost daily. There was times I would have fresh mullet for dinner, cold with grits for breakfast, mullet sandwich for lunch, come home and start the cycle over. It's just about the only seafood I'll order out.

Wife and I used to eat at Crazy Horse once a week. Sometime around Ivan it started going downhill. It's great to hear that it's made a comeback. Great, varied menu. Lets plan on meeting there soon.

Oh good grief...you guys are funny. I do know old Fl crackers ate it as they were hungry but really the fascination today is just for shock value to the uninitiated.

Nope. I truly enjoy it, although I greatly prefer mullet that come out of clear, sandy water as opposed to turbid, muddy water. That and pollution are why we drive 1.5hrs to Navarre when Mobile Bay is only 10 minutes away.

Sean, just say the word and I will be there for mullet. When I was a kid my dad and I used to catch mullet(the 3-5 pounders) in the bayou's out towards the NAS and in the sound out front of what is now the National Seashore going east out of Gulf Breeze. We would sometimes net so many that my dad would have me dive in to the nets weights and lift a corner to let some out so we could raise the net. I'm talkin' 20-30 in one cast.

We would trade them to the black people down on Hancock Lane towards Airport Blvd. for some of the very best pies that I have ever eaten to this day. Hey ....... I'm all in for mullet. --- SAWMAN
